Original, Live and Formal Meditation
This could become one of your favorite pages to explore! This might be an area to try after you are experienced and comfortable with the Take a Breath content from the other areas of this site. Here you will find many recordings taken from our live and original sessions recorded over the past 13 years in the field of mindfulness and meditation. We have enjoyed influences from a variety of techniques; from the classic traditions of yoga nidra (Sleep-based meditation) originating in India, to the Westernized contemporary versions of those same techniques. This is to say these may be very different than the bulk of the Take a Breath recordings. Enjoy the exploration, and we hope they serve you well!
These recordings may be much longer, have different sequences, contain Sanskrit words, etc. This is to say these may be very different than the bulk of the Take a Breath recordings. Enjoy the exploration, and we hope they serve you well!
Orientation, techniques, and practices.
Included here are the simple tools and suggestions to begin a more formal meditation practice. We have been trained in a breath awareness practice, however, there are many forms of formal meditation. We will invite you to try a few, and commit to the one which feels right. A formal meditation in combination with the 21-Day Take a Breath for Life practice might be a good suggestion as well.
These meditation practices may be best to explore after you have consistently practiced the Take a Breath recordings, have a strong relaxation response established, and feel ready for a more self-guided practice. Let us know if you have any questions or comments.
Meditation is often termed a mindfulness practice. To be mindful is an opportunity to 'turn off the auto-pilot' of the mind. You will recognize you have a choice in how you perceive things in the world (and in yourself!). Then you recognize you have a choice as to how you will react.
